My Biography

A great deal of time and research goes into the designs of each item – birdhouses, boxes, trays, plates and many other accessories. I paint on wood items primarily but have also enjoyed working on bisque and metal surfaces.

I have painted a variety of birdhouses, small boxes, plates and figurines. They are wonderful accessories to home decor and all are original and one of a kind, hand painted items. Even if the same design is used, because each one is sketched by hand and then painted by hand each piece creates a new, original version of the design. Currently my items are shown on my Etsy store at KrugsStudio.etsy.com.

Decorative painting led to painting in oils. I paint in either a mixed media format of an acrylic base, or under painting, with oils over this base for a richer, more dimensional painting. More recently I began painting entirely in acrylic paints. I paint with my own form of impressionism tempered by my impression of the subject.

Color is a passion. You will note I love the interplay of colors, one against the other. In both my craft painting and my fine art canvases I paint for color and contrasts.
